BDNA enriches USU’s IT asset management offering through OEM agreement

USU Valuemation Inventory based on BDNA technology provides complete and accurate IT asset descriptions

CeBIT, Germany, March 3, 2008 - BDNA, the leading solution provider of IT infrastructure insight and analysis, announces its OEM partnership with German IT asset management and business service management company, USU AG. The partnership strengthens USU AG’s “Valuemation” configuration management database (CMDB) through integration with BDNA Technology. Data about each IT asset discovered is automatically loaded into Valuemation, and is enriched with information from BDNA’s unique product catalog. This includes rich and detailed product specifications such as vendor information, software support dates and hardware warranty expiration data.

One of the key challenges to successful CMDB implementations is the ability to maintain the information consistently and accurately. USU previously incorporated product and vendor information into its CMDB by importing data from various sources and through manual processes. The transition to automatic updates will reduce the chance of human error, and increase accuracy and efficiency. The resulting capability will enable USU to provide its customers, which include T-Online, Poste Italiane and MTU Aero Engines, with a more timely and accurate view of their IT assets.

“Moving to an automated process is vital to improving our CMDB. We selected BDNA based on the ease of integrating their software with ours and, more importantly, because of the breadth and speed of asset discovery and the richness of information available in their catalogue,” said Bernhard Oberschmidt, chief executive for USU AG. “We are confident that this partnership will put us a step ahead of the competition. Not only do we have more information than ever before, but our analysis and insight will help our customers to measure and manage their IT infrastructure more accurately and make better informed decisions about their investments.”

“As technology investment moves up the boardroom agenda, it is crucial to be able to provide accurate, transparent information” said Ray Homan, chief executive officer for BDNA. “We are enthusiastic to see how quickly USU AG integrated BDNA technology in their Valuemation suite, to provide best of breed asset management to their customers.”

Valuemation Inventory based on BDNA technology is available immediately from USU and its partners.

BDNA is one of only 10 software vendors to appear on both the DoD ESI and the GSA SmartBuy programs.
